A neighbourhood currency that rewards participation, circulates locally, and builds collective economic power — one block at a time.
Community Credits (CC) are Block Share's points program — a complementary currency that circulates within your neighbourhood. You earn CC by participating in community activities: completing surveys, sharing items, hosting food deliveries, volunteering time.
Unlike loyalty points at a corporation, CC are backed by real community assets and designed to strengthen local economic connections. They're the beginning of a neighbourhood-scale economy that keeps value where it's created.
Think of CC as a community loyalty program today — evolving toward a full complementary currency as the network grows. Every credit you earn is a vote for your neighbourhood's economic independence.
Every Community Credit in circulation is backed by three sources of real community value — not by speculation, not by debt, but by the actual productive capacity of your neighbourhood.
A portion of every CC issued is backed by cash held in a community reserve fund. This provides a floor value and enables CC-to-dollar redemption.
Members pledge hours of skilled labour — anything from tutoring to carpentry to gardening. These pledges back CC with real productive capacity.
Shared tools, equipment, food inventory, and eventually community-held property back CC with tangible asset value.

Future: invest CC into community-owned assets like solar panels or land trust shares.
Community Credits lose 2% of their idle value each month. This isn't a penalty — it's a design feature borrowed from some of the world's most successful community currencies.
Demurrage encourages circulation. When CC moves — from person to person, from neighbour to local shop — it multiplies its impact. Hoarded currency helps no one. Circulating currency builds a neighbourhood economy.
Think of it as the opposite of interest: instead of rewarding those who sit on money, demurrage rewards those who use it. This keeps CC flowing and prevents accumulation by a few.
As you earn CC and participate, your rank grows — unlocking new abilities and recognition in your block.
